We previously covered this fountain in our gilding series. As part of its restoration, the gas lamps were re-lit. We find it odd to see gas lamps on during the day -- they smell funny and make things seem even hotter. It might be interesting to visit at night, though, and see what they makes things look like. And try to imagine the city before light bulbs.
