Notes (Roving Rube): The Rube kept meaning to take a picture series of this spectacular mural which wrapped around three sides of the Time & Life building for the past couple of years. But he didn't, and now, unfortunately, only this small fragment remains, and the rest left unrecorded to history.

The Rube thinks it was commissioned in honor of People Magazine's 25th anniversary, and of its numerous progeny since then), and appears to be set at the well-attended opening of a private estates collection of their cover art.

Some of the spectators appeared more than once, and in the Rube's favorite panel, the woman in the orange shirt (seen on the left getting a piggyback ride), was ever looking back out of the mural towards the Rube as he passed by, with a mysterious half-smile of secret kinship.
