Notes (Roving Rube): The new 72-story Trump World Tower near the UN provoked controversy not only for blocking Walter Cronkite's view from his apartment in a tower next door, but also for violating an unwritten rule about not upstaging the neighboring, 39-story Secretariat building. (See Carter Horsley's TheCityReview.com for a discussion of Donald Trump, right or wrong.)
Beside generally being in favor of more and taller buildings to gawk at, the Rube likes the occasional sheer monolith type like the World Tower. The Secretariat is way across 1st Avenue in the middle of its own park and can't complain about overcrowding, given what other buildings are up against in Manhattan.
According to Trumponline.com, this is one of the most luxurious residential towers in the worlds, with ceilings up to 16 feet high and service designed to rival five-star hotels. The Rube read somewhere that Trump is able to charge international millionaires a premium to live in his towers, because of his fame overseas.
