Photographer's notes: The Rube was interested in the little shoots in the foreground -- perhaps they are periwinkle. They look like little mushrooms -- Fig. 3 reminds him of an artwork he saw a couple of years ago at P.S.1 -- the artist meticulously creates profuse beds of mushrooms and fungii which look extremely delicate and completely real, yet they are artificial.
