The Rube had several "walkers in the storm" images -- he picked this one to work on because he thought the car was splashing water, adding to the elemental drama of the scene. And he gave the drifting steam a bluish tint (compare with Original).

But Figure 1 came out unexpectedly pretty, so he's included a Zoomed version of that too.

Fig 3 he likes because of the snow on the foreground woman's hat; because she is looking into the frame of the picture and thus encouraging the viewer to do the same; and that she is the apex of a triangle with the other people forming the base.
