The Rube's neighbor remarked on how much she liked the Takashimaya Building, and his coworker about how wonderfully they wrap gifts in the store, and the Rube himself looked at this building for hours one day, as it happened to be across the street from his vantage point for a parade. But he never really appreciated it until yesterday when he was on the lookout for more interesting columns to include in this series.

His guess is that the building would be called postmodern style, and that the columns are made out of black granite. They remind the Rube of the black pieces in his chess set.
