Central Park

From now on, whenever we have any more than almost nothing to say about a picture, we will say it down below, instead of in this teeny-weeny box. For those of you with 800x600 resolution, please scroll down whenever you see "(Notes Below)" in this box..

(Notes Below)

Shadow of King Jagiello
Shadow of King Jagiello

The inscription on the base reads:

WLADSAW JAGIELLO | KING OF POLAND | GRAND DUKE OF LITHUANIA | 1386 ~ 1434 | FOUNDER of A FREE UNION of THE PEOPLES of EAST CENTRAL EUROPE |VICTOR OVER THE TEUTONIC AGGRESSORS AT GRUNWALD | JULY 15 ~ 1410.

The pattern of the slate paving here seems particularly appropriate, as it overlooks the Turtle Pond.
