Roving Rube Picture of the Day

Whip Inflation Now

This holiday season, Macy's store windows have dioramas of their Thanksgiving parades in different eras (this one is set in the 70's), modeled right down to the traffic signals and lamp posts that always sneak in front of the Rube's camera to mess up his perfect shot.

There are lots of neat historical details to spot in each of the eras, and if you like that sort of thing, Lord and Taylor's (a few blocks further north on 5th Avenue) has "Christmas Through the Years" panoramas, from 1800s London, with a guy running out a print shop, having invented the first Christmas card, to a swinging 70's scene in the studio where they created the first claymation Christmas special.
