"Charlotte as seen by Thomas"

This 8-story tall reproduction of "appropriation artist" Barbara Kruger's "It's a small world..." hung facing the Port Authority bus terminal this past spring to publicize a retrospective of her work at the Whitney.

German photographer Thomas Hoepker, and his cousin Charlotte (holding the magnifying glass), sued her (and other parties) for copyright infringement (of Hoepker's original 1960 photo "Charlotte as seen by Thomas"), and for making Charlotte "'a public spectacle" with billboards like this.
