The Beginning
The Rube has spent some time just standing around Times Square, gathering pictures for this series. The sun is very intense, reflected back up off the pavement, and from the steel and glass buildings. And there is the constant roar of the traffic, the air conditioners, the big generator buried under the center of the Square -- it comes to sound very much like the roar of the ocean.
Sometimes the vendors are lulled to sleep.
